Oglethorpe’s plan was to create a home for the many debtors incarcerated in the London jails. Great Britain hoped the colony would provide a defensive buffer for their other holdings from the Spanish, French, Native Americans and to provide more riches.

If you were creating your own colony (nation, state, etc.) what would you do in preparation?
